Kenny Bonura
Kenny Bonura has been involved in teaching and coaching for over 30 years. In 1986 Bonura was hired as the first baseball coach at Archbishop Hannan High School. While at Hannan his teams won five consecutive district titles. After seven years at Hannan, Bonura moved to Chalmette High. In his three years there, Chalmette recorded 3 district championships including a 24 win season.
In 1997, Bonura was hired as an assistant coach at his alma mater UNO. While there, UNO won the Sun Belt Conference Championship in 2000. In 2003, Kenny went back to Chalmette where he volunteers in the baseball program.
Bonura attended De La Salle high school and was a 3-year letter winner in baseball and basketball. Upon graduation, Bonura signed with the Privateers and played there from 1982-1985. In 1984, he helped lead the Privateers to the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
He resides in St. Bernard with his wife of 32 years, Sandy. They have three sons Kal, Bret, and Chip.
Katie Bailey
Katie was born and raised in St. Bernard Parish until Hurricane Katrina, where she moved to Covington. She spent 12 years living on the north shore and currently resides in the city of Chalmette. She has grown up around softball her entire life and is currently the Head Softball Coach at Mount Carmel Academy. She is a graduate of Archbishop Hannan High School where she was the starting 3rd baseman and catcher. After high school, she made the hard decision to not pursue her athletic scholarship offers, and enrolled into college as a regular student. She is a graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, where she obtained a Bachelors degree in Social Work, then went on to Tulane University, where she earned a Masters degree in the same discipline. It was in college where she finally headed towards her passion of coaching softball. She absolutely loves helping younger players pursue their passion for the game, achieve their goals, and create a culture of self-confidence in their abilities.
Her expertise is focused on: hitting, catchers fundamentals, and defensive skills. She is available for individual & small group sessions.
Her coaching accolades include: coaching the 2017 Division 1 State Softball Championship team & 2017/2018 District 9-5A Softball team, 2017 District 9-5A Coach of the Year, 2017 All-Metro Coach of the Year, Overall Coaching Record of 40-11. Her players at MCA have committed to: LSU, University of Louisville, Springhill, ULL, University of Missouri, Kansas City, and BRCC
Her player accolades include: 3-year MVP for Archbishop Hannan, 3-year All-District, 3-year All-Metro, 2009 LHSAA East All-Star Team, JV MVP for St. Scholastica Academy, 4-year letterman.
Bret Bonura
Bret played baseball at Holy Cross High School where he was a four year letterman. While in college, Bret began coaching as a varsity assistant baseball coach at Isidore Newman High School. Bret coached at Newman for 6 years as a pitching/outfield coach as well as head JV/Freshman coach. Bret is currently a varsity assistant coach at Chalmette High School. Bret currently does private lessons for pitching,hitting and defensive work.
Sarah Russell
Sarah Russell is 20 years old and a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. She has dedicated over 15 years of her life competitively playing softball and now coaching the future players of the game.
Sarah had played for the St. Bernard All Stars, Bayou Slammers, VOODOO softball and NOLA Elite College Exposure.
While at Chalmette High School, Sarah helped lead her team to 3 consecutive District Championships. Sarah was selected as an All District pitcher her freshman and sophomore year. Junior and Senior year she was selected as an All District infielder,offensive MVP and also named Academic All American Sr. year.
Her Athletic play on the field as well as her academic excellence in the classroom gave her the opportunity to play at the collegiate level, having offers from Millsaps University and Holmes CC. Sarah graduated at the top of her class in 2016 and now attends LSU school of nursing.
Payton Adams
Payton is 20 yrs old and a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. She has dedicated 16 yrs of her life competitively playing softball and is now competing at the collegiate level.
Payton played for the St. Bernard All Stars, Voodoo Softball, NOLA Worth 98 and LA. Bombers. Payton attended John Curtis Christian School where she earned four Louisiana State Softball Championship titles. She was selected as an All-District and All-Metro Team player her freshman year; All-District, All-Metro and All-State player her Sophomore and Junior year and All-Metro and All-District her Senior year of High School. Payton is currently attending University of Mobile on a softball and academic scholarship. Payton graduated in the top five of her class in 2016 and is currently working towards a degree in Psychology at the University of Mobile.
Payton is excited and looking forward to working with girls who share her love of the game and helping them advance to the next level both on and off the field.
Trey Guilliot
Trey Guillot has spent the past 17 years coaching baseball in and around the metro area. After completing his college eligibility, he spent two years as graduate assistant at UNO where he coached first base and worked with the hitters and outfielders. Next, Coach Guillot coached for one season at Wallace Community College in Dothan, Alabama. There he coached pitchers, hitters, and first base. Guillot returned to New Orleans and spent a year coaching at Ridgewood, two years at Hannan, and a year at Shaw before becoming the head coach at Isidore Newman. For 10 years, he coached the Greenies, leading them to 5 district championships.
In addition, Guillot has been working baseball camps and teaching hitting/pitching lessons for the past 20 years both as a coordinator and lead instructor.
Kal Bonura
Attended Holy Cross High School and graduated in 2008.
Kal played at UNO College from 2008-2011.
Kal coached at UNO from 2012-2014.
Since 2015, Kal has been the hitting coach at Loyola University
Brian Tallet
Brian Tallet LSU Tiger and Major Leaguer.
His college career started out in 1997 at Hill College and then went on to LSU in 1998. He was then drafted in the 2nd round of the 2000 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians and made his Major League Debut in September 2002. Throughout his pro career he played for three teams: Cleveland Indians, Toronto Blue Jays, and St. Louis Cardinals.
Tallet specializes in arm mechanics and proper technique in pitchers.
Chip Bonura
Chip graduated from Holy Cross High School with the class of 2014.
He furthered his baseball career to Delgado between the years 2015-2017 where he was apart of the 2016 JUCO World Series Team.
He signed with Nicholls State in the summer of 2017.
